How Verdrobe makes money
Verdrobe does not sell products. We help you discover alternatives from brands that describe themselves as more sustainable, and then send you to the brand's own website to buy. We earn in two ways:
- Affiliate commissions. For many brands, we earn a commission through affiliate networks and programs (for example Skimlinks and the brands’ own affiliate programs) when you click a link on Verdrobe and then make a purchase on the brand’s site. The brand or network pays us a percentage of the sale.
- Affiliate only, for now. At launch we earn only affiliate commissions — we do not charge brands for placement or for clicks. If in future we enter a direct paid arrangement with a brand (for example a per-click fee), it will be under a separate agreement and any sponsored content will be clearly labelled.
Three things you should know
- It costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you would if you went to the brand directly. Commissions are paid by the brand or network, not added to your price.
- It does not influence our results. We do not accept payment to rank a brand higher or to include it. Our results are ordered by how well they match your search and our brand-inclusion criteria. If we ever show content that is sponsored or promoted, we will label it clearly and obviously as such.
- It does not determine how we present a brand's claims. Whether we earn from a brand has no bearing on how we display what that brand says about its sustainability. Any badge or label reflects our or a third party’s assessment at a point in time, may change, and is not a guarantee or professional advice. Always make your own assessment before buying.
Your purchase is with the brand, not Verdrobe
When you click through and buy, your contract is with the brand or retailer, on their terms, and they are responsible for the product, pricing, delivery, returns and support. See our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for more, including how we handle data used to attribute referrals.
Why we tell you this
Being open about how we make money is part of how Verdrobe earns your trust — and it’s also required of us. U.S. Federal Trade Commission guidance requires affiliate relationships to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously; consumer-protection law (including California law) requires material commercial connections to be disclosed; and our affiliate-network agreements require this notice.
